Friday, May 1, 2009. The final scene with Father Flynn confronting Sister Aloyisius near the end was done well. Father Flynn showed appropriate emotions during the whole affair. Sister Aloysius showed little remorse for the situation and acted smug and unrelentless towards Father Flynn. Friday, April 24, 2009. A lot alike to our other plays.
Friday, May 8, 2009. Thursday, April 23, 2009. Let me start by saying that I loved this play. I thought it was a perfect melding of the best elements of the plays we have read this semester. To write about everything I liked about this play would take too long, so instead ill pick just one thing to talk about.
Friday, May 1, 2009. An interesting point I found in watching The Merchant of Venice was the appearance of a reoccurring theme throughout the semester; prejudices. The prejudice focused on in Merchant was differing religions. Shylock disliked everyone else in the play because they were all Christians. And reversely everyone else in the play disliked Shylock because he was Jewish! Friday, April 24, 2009.
I really love this play. I think a big reason I loved this play so much because it was almost making fun of the whole Yellow Fever thing. I know a couple of people who are all into the whole Asian wives things, and it aggravates me. Reading a play that turned that idea around was extremely enjoyable. So much so that I actually read the afterword. The Songs of Mother Courage.
Where nobody talks because everybody is guilty. We were worried about you, Gallimard. We thought you were the only one here without a secret.
